TechMart Electronics Company offers a layby facility to help customers purchase smartphones and laptops by paying in instalments. Please read these terms carefully before entering into a layby arrangement.

Eligibility

  • Layby is available on all products priced at MWK 50,000 or above.
  • Only one active layby arrangement is permitted per customer at any time, unless otherwise agreed in writing.
  • TechMart reserves the right to decline a layby application at its discretion.

Deposit

A non-refundable deposit of at least 30% of the product price is required to initiate the layby. The deposit secures and reserves the product for you. No product will be released until the full price is paid.

Payment Schedule

The remaining balance after the deposit must be paid in equal monthly instalments over a maximum of 3 months from the date the deposit is paid. A payment schedule will be agreed upon and confirmed in writing (via WhatsApp or email) at the time of deposit.

Late Payments

Each instalment is due on the agreed date. A grace period of 5 calendar days applies. If payment is not received within the grace period, TechMart will send a reminder by WhatsApp or email.

If the instalment is still unpaid 14 calendar days after the original due date, TechMart reserves the right to cancel the layby arrangement.

Cancellation by Customer

You may cancel a layby at any time by contacting us. If you cancel:

  • The non-refundable deposit is forfeited.
  • An administration fee of 10% of the total product price will be deducted from any refund.
  • The remaining balance (payments made minus deposit and administration fee) will be refunded within 7 business days to the original payment method.

Cancellation by TechMart

TechMart may cancel a layby if:

  • An instalment remains unpaid 14 calendar days after the due date, following a reminder.
  • The customer provides false or misleading information.

In the event of cancellation by TechMart, the same refund terms apply as customer-initiated cancellation (deposit forfeited, 10% administration fee deducted).

Product Release

The product will be released to you (available for collection or delivery) only after the full purchase price has been received. Delivery costs, where applicable, are separate and payable at the time of dispatch.

Warranty

The 3-month TechMart warranty begins on the date the product is collected or delivered after full payment — not from the date the deposit is paid.

Price Changes

The price of the product is locked at the time the deposit is paid. Any subsequent price changes on the website do not affect your layby arrangement.
